The Nocturnes series turns up the ambience and features live music performances, a bar service, and entry to all of the Musée’s exhibitions. Why not try this original new way to visit the Musée and connect with contemporary art?

Some of the most talented artists of Montréal’s music scene have been featured at the Friday Nocturnes: DJ Champion and his guitar line-up, Blandiloquentia, We are Wolves, Martin Tétreault, The National Parcs, Moment Factory and Moondata, Duchess Says, DJ Maüs, Pas Chic Chic, bob, We are Ortiz, Creature, Beast, Jérôme Minière, Think About Life and Coeur de pirate.

Next Friday Nocturne, February 6, 2009, the Musée welcomes Socalled.

Socalled is a musician, photographer, magician and writer. He started out on piano as a youngster, then took up the accordion and became interested in all kinds of music. After graduating from McGill, he made an animated film, while also writing for HOUR magazine and performing. An eclectic, hyperactive musician, he appears and records with numerous fellow artists. Socalled won a MIMI Award for (These Are) The Good Old Days. His latest album is titled Ghettoblaster.

The Musée’s capacity for the Nocturnes events is limited to 700 people. The first to arrive will be admitted into the performance space; those arriving later in the evening will have the possibility of watching the show via video as well as visiting all the Musée’s exhibitions in an exclusive, nocturnal atmosphere. Education Department staff will be available in the exhibition spaces to answer questions.

No reservation is required.
