Antonin Mousseau-Rivard, the grandson of a signatory of Refus global, was clearly cut out to be the chef-owner of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal restaurant. Le Contemporain draws on the Automatist palette of Borduas, Riopelle and, of course, Mousseau for its inspiration, further enhanced by the skilful blend of flavours and unique personal touch of this young self-taught chef.
Chef Mousseau-Rivard took the helm of the restaurant in January 2011. We invite you to come discover this Montréal gem, still a well-kept secret.
And have you thought of holding your event at the Musée? Le Contemporain offers catering service in all the museum’s spaces available for rental.
Tuesday to Friday: open for lunch from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday: open for dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The restaurant is located on the exhibition level (first floor) of the museum.
Access is through the main entrance, at 185 Sainte-Catherine Ouest.
Information and reservations:
On the first Friday of certain months, from 5 to 9 p.m., the Musée hosts the Friday Nocturnes, unique evenings that showcase emerging Montréal music. We recommend that you consult the Musée website or ask the restaurant staff to find out whether the evening’s musical ambience will be in harmony with the dinner you are planning.
