Construction in the Quartier des spectacles The City of Montreal has launched a major revitalization of the Quartier des spectacles. Also, during Montreal Jazz Festival, Sainte-Catherine Ouest corner Bleury and St-Urbain will be closed to traffic until July 15, 2009. Jeanne-Mance corner Saint-Catherine and De Maisonneuve will be closed to traffic until July 15, 2009. During construction and Jazz Festival, visitors should access the Musée from the metro station (Place-des-Arts). Motorists will still have access to Place des Arts car park. School groups travelling by coach can access the Musée from boulevard De Maisonneuve Ouest (bus stop behind the Place des Arts), and use the passageway between the Musée and Salle Wilfrid Pelletier that will take them to the Place des Arts esplanade and the Musée’s main entrance on Sainte Catherine. In case of heavy snow or ice, school buses may drop off their passengers at the corner of Saint-Urbain and Sainte-Catherine streets. The passengers may then use Musée’s main entrance, located on Sainte-Catherine. We apologize for any inconvenience the construction may cause. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility The museum is accessible and adapted to the needs of people in wheelchairs. This includes the restrooms. As well, we have a number of wheelchairs available (free of charge) for use by visitors. The Québec organization Kéroul, which provides information for people with limited physical ability and lobbies on their behalf, has certified that the museum meets its access standards. A wheelchair-accessible entrance is located next to the museum’s main door at 185 Sainte-Catherine. To enter through this locked door, simply press the intercom button to communicate with the museum’s security staff. Parking for people with reduced mobility Parking spaces for people with reduced mobility are available at Place des Arts. To use these spaces, you must contact Place des Arts security staff to obtain help getting to Sainte-Catherine Street. You can then enter the museum via the wheelchair-accessible entrance located next to the main door. Municipal parking spaces with adapted parking meters, as well as reserved parking spaces, are also available in several locations in the borough of Ville-Marie. For more information, visit the Stationnement de Montréal website.
