MAC Nocturnes - Friday evening, July 6, 2007 Live musical performances with Blandiloquentia et Guemilere
Montréal, June 19, 2007. After the success earlier this month of DJ Champion at the Musée d’art contemporain Nocturnes, the museum will play host to modern and traditional percussion by the ensembles Blandiloquentia and Guemilere for an evening wired to the beat of DrumMystique on Friday, July 6.
This live musical performance—with both electrofunk and Afro-Cuban roots—will feature Blandiloquentia, a duo made up of Joannie Labelle (congas, bongos, shereke, djembé, derbouka, surdos and batas) and Merlin Ettore (non-traditionnal drums plus electronics!), and the GUEMILERE ensemble of Joannie Labelle, Luca Perluzzo-Massad, Normand Bock, Lisa Shalom (voice), Sarah Villeneuve (voice), Tania Gonzalez and Yvan Boisvert (batas).
Nocturnes is the brand-new concept developed by the Musée d’art contemporain. On the first Friday of every month, the museum will be open late, from 6 to 9, for an evening where you can expect the unexpected. Visit the galleries on your own, or enjoy exhibition “clips”: speed tours of a random selection of works currently on view, plus live music and bar: original drinks concocted by Mixoart & Fluid Flair.
Nocturnes: a different way to visit the museum and connect with today’s art.
No reservation necessary. Admission with regular Musée ticket or our new $10 Wired card. Information: myspace.com/fridaynocturnes or www.macm.org.
